Bats in the Belfry

With a little over a month to go until The Dark Knight arrives in theaters, it is time to cast your vote for your favorite actor to play the Caped Crusader in our latest poll. I have changed the settings on our blog so we can now accept comments from anyone (no google account required), so by all means, don't keep your thoughts to yourself.

Adam West

Transportation: Batcopter, Batcycle...if it starts with "Bat-," he's used it
Arsenal: Shark repellant
Likes: Doing the Batusi, Julie Newmar
Dislikes: The Joker's makeup-caked mustache

"To the Batcave, Robin! There's not a moment to lose!"

Michael Keaton

Transportation: A surprisingly un-bulletproof Batwing, Batmissile
Arsenal: Filled with many wonderful toys
Likes: Michelle Pfieffer in black vinyl, brooding
Dislikes: Getting upstaged by The Joker, Penguin's nasty fish breath

"I'm Batman."

Val Kilmer

Transportation: Gravity-defying Batmobile for all his driving-up-the-wall needs
Arsenal: Security guard's hearing aid
Likes: Flirting with Nicole Kidman, solving riddles
Dislikes: Nerdy inventors with man crushes, Boiling acid

"It's the car, right? Chicks love the car."

George Clooney

Transportation: Bat skates, makeshift board for sky surfing
Arsenal: Rubber nipples
Likes: Having pun contests with Mr. Freeze, gratuitous neon
Dislikes: Putting up with that punk Robin, monologuing villains

"This is why Superman works alone."

Christian Bale

Transportation: The Tumbler, runaway trains
Arsenal: That growling voice
Likes: Spelunking, Katie Holmes (don't ask me why)
Dislikes: Learning polo, bats (who knew?)

"Didn't you ever learn to mind your surroundings?"

Where does he get those wonderful toys?

While Christian Bale (a close second) is arguably better suited for the role, Michael Keaton is the Batman I grew up with. He defied the skeptics and pioneered the character for "my generation." Thanks to him, we have such defining traits as the "Batman Voice" and the "Bat-Turn" (quickly turning his whole body in a certain direction since the thick rubber mask wouldn't allow him to turn his head).

Christian Bale is just totally believable as Batman. (He's also a biscuit, but that's beside the point.) My favorite USED to be Val Kilmer...but once I saw Christian Bale in the role, I forgot all about Val.

While I agree with Melissa that Christian Bale is a biscuit and I'm sporting a major crush... I just couldn't bear to see Adam West fall so far behind so quickly. After all, he is the only Batman to not need a muscle suit to look tough.

"Pure West."

It was between Mr. Mom and Mr. Newsies, but ultimately I had to go with Bale. As much as I loved the Keaton version, Bale's movie is my favorite of all the Batmans (Batmen?).

I think I just like Michael Keaton because he is the first batman that I saw in the theater and the other actors up to Christian Bale were just bad ... But Michael Keaton will ALWAYS be Batman to me. He did such a good job.

I do also enjoy Christian Bale as Batman as well if it wasn't for his silly change of voice when he was in the suit. ugh!

Sorry we missed the baby blessing. I've been in Oregon for the past three weeks, and let's just say it's been a little crazy. Anyway, how do you guys know Debbie and / or Matt Salt? Debbie's my cousin - small world, eh?
